Make your own pots from recycled newspaper
The Propagate Paper Pot Maker is a simple, satisfying tool that turns recycled newspaper into biodegradable seedling pots ready for sowing and propagating. No plastic, no waste, and no transplant shock — just a clean, sustainable way to raise plants from seed and get them into the ground in the best possible condition. A thoughtful gift for any gardener that is endlessly reusable.
How it works
Wrap a strip of newspaper around the wooden former, stamp the base to seal it and slide the finished pot free. The resulting pot is the ideal size and strength to hold soil, seed and seedling through the full establishment stage. When the time comes to plant out, the pot goes directly into the ground so there's no root disturbance, no transplant shock and no plastic pot to dispose of. The newspaper breaks down naturally in the soil, feeding the garden as it goes.
Made for Australian conditions and Australian natives
Transplant shock is one of the most common reasons Australian native seedlings fail to establish. Many natives are sensitive to root disturbance at the planting stage and even careful handling can set a young plant back weeks. Planting the entire paper pot directly into the ground eliminates that risk entirely, giving native seedlings the uninterrupted start they need to establish quickly and thrive.
FSC certified beech wood
The pot maker is crafted from FSC® certified beech wood, a dense, close-grained European hardwood that holds its shape through repeated use and feels solid and reliable in the hand. FSC® certification ensures the timber has been sourced from responsibly managed forests, making this a tool that is sustainable from the material up.
